High-Scoring Pacers Reach Second Straight CSAC Women's Lacrosse Final

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University reached its second straight Colonial States Athletic Conference final with a 21-7 victory over Immaculata University in Wednesday's semifinal. The second-seeded Pacers advance to face Cabrini University on Saturday in Radnor, Pennsylvania.

The Pacers scored nine of the first 10 goals. Both of the CSAC semifinals ended in a 21-7 decision.

Sam Bussinelli finished with a career-high nine points on five goals and four assists.

Gwyneth Gleason was dominant with three goals, five assists for eight points. She totaled 11 draw controls and three ground balls.

Gina Babcock matched a career-best effort with four goals and an assist. Erin Healy had a hat trick.

Defensively, the Pacers were led by five ground balls and two caused turnovers from Michaela DiLorenzo. Molly Yelencsics picked up three ground balls, two caused turnovers and four draw controls. Goalkeeper Mary Leahy made nine saves for a .563 save percentage outing.

Kylie Winton enjoyed a season-best performance with two goals and an assist. Caitlin Watson also finished two goals and an assist. Faith Grieshaber scored twice, and Katrina Kelly collected four ground balls and an assist.

Marywood went 6 of 8 from free-position range. The Pacers outshot Immaculata by a 36-21 margin. Marywood edged the Mighty Macs 29-26 in ground balls. The forest green and gold were dominant off the draw, winning with a 21-8 advantage.

The Pacers opened with a goal 4:31 into the game from Erin Healy. Ninety seconds later, Bussinelli underhanded a pass to Watson who sent it into net for a 2-0 lead.

Immaculata halved the deficit with an unassisted Maura Murray tally at 19:08. One minute later, Grieshaber returned the lead to 3-1 and started a seven-goal run over an eight-minute span.

The Mighty Macs cut the deficit to six with less than two minutes remaining on a Nicole Dominick netter. The Pacers added three groals in the last 1:15 of the first half to go into the break with a 13-4 lead.

Layne Kennedy had two goals and an assist for the Mighty Macs. Brittany Whaley caused two turnovers and picked up four ground balls.

It is Marywood's fourth trip to the CSAC championship game. The Pacers previously made it in 2011, 2012 and 2017.
