Cabrini Tops Marywood for 13th Straight MLAX Title

Radnor, PA – Marywood University fell to top-seeded Cabrini College 25-5 Saturday in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship. Cabrini wins its 13th consecutive conference crown and advances to the NCAA Tournament.

Cody Bachman led the Pacers with two goals. Stephen Deiner provided two points on a goal and an assist. Derek Schmidt and Dylan Swope each provided a goal.

Four players – Dylan Swope, John Werner, Ryan Nowell and Brandon Terlizzi – finished with a team-high three ground balls for the Pacers. Nowell had two caused turnovers.

Joe Magargal made 12 saves in 48 minutes, four seconds of work in goal. Daghan Hart finished the cleanup duty with three stops.

Cabrini tripled the Pacers in shots by a 60-20 margin. The Cavaliers owned a 48-27 ground ball advantage. The Cavaliers won 25 of 33 faceoff chances.

Cabrini scored the first nine goals of the game. Marywood was held scoreless until Bachman came through with 8:09 left in the second quarter to end a streak of nine straight Cavs goals. The Pacers did not score again until 2:03 in the third when Schmidt provided an unassisted goal to make it a 17-2 deficit.

Marywood will learn of its postseason fate by Monday evening.
